We believe that a roleplaying game shouldn’t just be about individual heroes fighting side-by-side; it should be about the connection between them.
In this system, you are defined not by what you can do alone, but by how you empower the ally standing next to you.
The Synergy Engine
The Deck is your lifeblood. The Suits are your soul.
This is the engine under the hood. A universal, genre-agnostic ruleset driven by the Four Fundamental Forces and a unique Deck Economy. It provides the robust tactical framework you need to tell stories where cooperation isn’t just a suggestion—it’s the mechanic.
The Accord RPG
Synergy is your weapon.
This is the official collection of worlds designed to showcase the power of the engine. From the divine wars of Accord RPG – Fantasy to the void-ships of Accord RPG – Sci-Fi, these settings provide the rich lore, factions, and threats you need to run a campaign tonight.
The Synergy Engine – I am already confused!
Every game will need two things – The Synergy Engine rules, and a Setting (official or not).
Any Setting provided by Edge of the World Productions is “official” and will be named as “Accord RPG” settings: Accord RPG – Fantasy, Accord RPG – Sci-Fi, etc.
The most confusing part of this, and one we are still debating as this is all in pre-Alpha really, is that someone playing a home-made setting and using the Synergy rules is still considered to be playing “the Accord RPG”- even though they are not using an official Accord RPG Setting. That is a bit weird, but the Synergy Engine itself will be mostly framework and so seems confusing to call “a game”. Synergy is (metaphorically) a board with alternating black and white squares – Chess is a Setting you play on it. Checkers is a Setting you could play on it. Some weird version of a spaceship game, where you sell plastic ships, that uses that same board, is a Setting. In these metaphorical examples.

We believe the best games are the ones you make your own. That is why both The Synergy Engine and the official Accord RPG Settings are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License (CC BY 4.0).
Free to Use. You don’t need our permission to run a game, stream a show, or host a wiki. The rules are yours.
Free to Modify. Don’t like a rule? Change it. Want to mix Accord Fantasy with Cyberpunk? Do it. We encourage hacking and homebrewing.
Free to Sell. Yes, really. You can write your own adventures, supplements, or entire games using our system and sell them for profit. All we ask is that you give us credit.
